Most of us were taught to shut down our own bodies and grief in order to make room for the grief we hold. At the same time, very few of us received any comprehensive grief specific training.
This has left a huge gap in our collective capacity to work with the many layers of grief we bear witness to every day.
When we shut down our own grief in session and resolve to "self-care later", we also shut down our bodies and therefore an incredibly important source of information and therapeutic decision making. In this course, you will learn how to utilize your own body AND grief to get better at holding the grief of the ones you work with without shutting down or getting burnt out.
Each session includes a combination of meditation, individual and group movement experientials, journaling and group discussion/case consultation. You will also receive grief specific training info and a packet of resources to share with your clients/colleagues. You will leave feeling grounded, connected to your body and clear about how to use this vessel to work with all forms of grief.
This course is for therapists and other space-holders who work with grieving people, to help them build their capacity to carry others grief.
We will meet bi-monthly for four (4) months, with the next date to be announced very soon.
The investment is $1200 USD. Payments can be made upfront or in 4 equal monthly payments. Reparative pricing is available for Black and Indigenous space-holders.

Connect with your own body: Through a combination of guided meditation and movement experiences, you will develop a deep clarity on both how your own grief lives in your body and how your body responds to your clients' grief. Developing this ability to name sensations and approach them with curiosity will help clear any blocks you have around being with grief and increase your comfort level in holding space for this complex and non-linear experience.
Receive training: So what does it actually mean to hold grief well? This course follows the loose outline of the course of a therapeutic relationship from the beginning to the end provides comprehensive guidance on how to effectively hold grief at each level. You will also receive a packet of grief specific resources and practices for yourself and to share with your clients.
Have a safe container to consult: This is your chance to bring grief specific cases to myself and the group for input and support. I will help you process what is coming up for you in these cases and help you utilize your own body as a source of therapeutic decision making and direction.
